Christmas card triptychs

Here are some photos that I am thinking of turning into our Christmas cards for this year.  I like the way they work together in these triptychs.  What do you think?

Snow Day

I woke up this morning and the world was covered in a thick white blanket of snow.  I was able to go with my husband and our camera out for a walk around the neighbourhood and snap some beautiful pictures.  Winter has come early to our part of the world, but I am not complaining.

After a long, cold walk in the snow, the nicest thing is to be able to return to a warm house, bundle up under some warm blankets and sip some hot chocolate (or tea)!  The kettle is on.

Eid Mubarak!

Tomorrow is Eid al-Adha, the Muslim holiday celebrating Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael to God.  God provided Abraham with a ram to sacrifice instead.  Many Muslim people mark this special day by sacrificing a sheep, to symbolize God's intervention in Ishmael's sacrifice.  Eid Mubarak to all of my friends and family, near and far.  I hope each of you can spend this special time surrounded by family, friends, laughter and love.

Happy Diwali

This is the week of Diwali, the Indian festival of lights.  This holiday is celebrated in Sikhism, Hinduism and Jainism.  Each religion has beautiful and meaningful traditions to mark these special days.  I haven't had time to make and light my own diya (the small clay lamps which give Diwali its name), but I thought I would post some appropriate photos here just the same.

Happy Diwali, everyone!  Let a little light into your homes during these cold and blustery days.
