I Dream in Lavender

Today's Photo of the Day was taken during a July trip to my mom's house.  She has a big backyard and she has made the most of her space.  Of all the flowers she has, I love the lavender the most, the slightly astringent smell and the beautiful purple colour.  I dream in lavender.  I took my camera outside one afternoon and tried to capture this beautiful flower.  I even attempted to catch the bees as they flitted about their business, pollinating the flowers.  Look at the photos and imagine the lazy drone of the bees and the summer sun high above beating down on the back of your neck.

I figured that I had to post these photos before we were too far into fall with its multi-coloured leaves, woolen scarves, and foods made with pumpkin to appreciate the long, hot, slow days of summer anymore.

I have been a silent follower of many beautiful blogs for about a year now.  I have lurked around the blogging world, poring over the beautiful pictures, imagining myself living in all of the Sköna Hem designed houses, and eating food made for me by Aran of Cannelle et Vanille. Every time I read or see something new, I am inspired.  I wanted to start a blog, but I never got around to doing it.  I always had an excuse.  Finally, last week,  my friend started one and it gave me the push I needed to hop into the creative world on my own.  I hope you like it.
